REPORT: HOW CORONAVIRUS AFFECTS LIFE AT GIMJES

April 2020

Introduction

This report is panned by a Gimnazija Jesenice student with a goal to present schoolwork, time distribution and contacts with schoolmates during the coronavirus quarantine in Slovenia during March and April.

Schoolwork

Students get their schoolwork by e-mail or e-assistant, which is send to them by teachers. Some of them send it at the beginning of the week, others when the subject is on timetable.

Time distribution

As already said the schoolwork does not arrive consistently, which leads to problems with organisation, therefore it takes up more time. Another problem is that students are expected to study the same amount of subject material as in class, which is close to impossible and must spend much more time.

Contact with schoolmates

By the standards of quarantine students are basically not able to see each other in person and consequently are losing the connection. It is true that with all the technology they can see each other via different apps that make it possible, but miss proper human contact.

Suggestions

Improvements have already been seen but some teachers could still use the advice to try and send the schoolwork on time and make students’ lives a bit easier. In conclusion I would like to say that hopefully the disease ends soon, and everything will be back to normal.
